Five Minutes of Emotion

by Howard F Farewell

I sit here locked inside of myself
I listen to random mumblings of music
Every so often a good one pierces the surface
Snapping my attention back
Unlocking my brain for 5 minute coffee breaks
Letting it wander and mingle amongst the sound
I sit here again
I have more music
It helps pass the time
In 5 minute increments of emotion
Slide along the wavelengths
In one ear out the other
Nothing ever comes out anymore
It stays inside
I wait patiently to let it go
I sit silently for something to unlock it all
Until then
There are only 5 minutes of emotion

If there is any little thing I'd swap out of this poem, it'd be another word choice for "unlock" in the third to last line (repsin the phrase starting with "something"). It's not a particularly bad choice, but your presentation is much more abstract by the time you get there and it brings the urgency of the tone down a notch. Nice work.
