Old and New

by Leonard M Hawkes

The morning gray
Disgorged itself
In an effluvium
Of white-crusted
Grey-brown jell.

The world is veiled
In rancid haze,
And I splash onward,
Yellow light glaring,
Radio blaring--

Going somewhere
With New Year.
