The Dance of Time

by Leandra K Brossard

My heart has sought forever the waiting arms of your embrace
My eyes have roamed the heavens for a chance to glimpse your face
my world has, all around me, since that moment, crumbled in,
and you're what everything I have, in this world, is tied up in.
I turned around to see you once, imagine my surprize
When I spun around and saw myself sink deep into your eyes
My gaze upon you wandered, of it's own, willingly
and I sat, enraptured as I watched you lingeringly
and you moved around me, in this strange new dance we call the world
And we danced on, as all creation and destruction were unfurled
We did not seem to notice, and neither did we care
as reality was swept away and chaos filled the air.
The openness, it came to life, as all else was decay
and happily the turbid air soon swept all truth away
And as the dance was ended and you bowed and turned away,
I realised, at once, to late, what I had meant to say
Despair swept quickly over me, surpassed only by disguise
as I saw, in horror, your shape change before my eyes
I turned my back on you, in rage and fury, blind and true
and fought to gain control over the confusion to ensue
but out of all conception and separate from time
I saw, once more, the heritage that would soon become mine.
A universe of nothingness, of sorrow and of shame,
and all because my soul had somehow dared to feel the same.
