Christmas

by Amy Niggel

On Christmas day,
when the tree is up,
when the presents are unwrapped,
when everything is done,
I can still feel the joy,
He was born today,
to save us from our sins,
and family is around,
to save us from ourselves,
for a day
the family gets along,
or they used to,
but this year, not as much,
my fault,
I pissed them off,
I cut the throat of Christmas tradition.
I am sorry,
please forgive me,
can't we just have that warmth again?
