Merry Country Christmas

by Ulyss Rubey

A new bike for Christmas
And I couldn't wait,
So I kicked her alive,
And raced for the gate.

Away from the yard
I flew in a flash,
Flinging rocks and roots
On the house as I passed.

Out on the porch
I heard my mom's screams,
She probably was thinking-
She was having bad dreams.

I knew the trail well,
And the moon was out bright,
So I snicked her in third
And shot into the nite.

The pasture was empty
The cows in the shed,
So I clicked up to fourth,
And charged on ahead.

Oh! what a great ride,
With nothing to fear....
If it hadn't have been
For those friggin reindeer.
