even the whores...

by Rachelle Howe

i am not
alone
in my convictions
that if i could
i would change
one thing
about myself
(the one thing
that cost me
His approval...)
i would without him asking.
and
i am not alone
in my belief
that things would be easier
(if i weren't
who he thinks i am)
if i weren't me.

i am not alone
in my understanding
that it isnt about race
its about adoration
and it isnt about saving face
its about saving yourself
and most of all, that there isnt gender
only knowledge and hope.

so before you point fingers
and wave your holier than thou scriptures,
and before you scream
that i'm "going to hell" and "damned"
think about the One that gave you His example,
and when He was alive,
even the Whores were allowed
at his table.
