Winter Camp (four haiku) by Leonard M Hawkes(1)
Dark December Cold,
Hud'ling close by smold'ring fir,
Clear bright flaming stars.
(2)
Piercing coyote yap,
Orion rising eastward,
Boots crunch crusted snow.
Mule Deer (3)
Stealthy midnight steps,
Rushing shadows leap and flee,
Urgent winter thirst.
(4)
Silent blue-white snow,
Black coals, orange tongues of fire,
Teen-tent-talk, whispered.
