So Tonight That I Might See

by Betania Tesch

I jump
from green eye to green eye
hopping on rocks
named after moments
with pefection.
I have no need
for going, and no urge
for once
because content is enough
when joy is dormant.
So tonight,
that I might see,
pull the curtains apart
and turn on the moon
for a cool bath of light
and let me flourish
like a moon flower.
I lick
my lips forcefully
over the memory
of this feeling
and taste it
sweet and strong.
It is not
a drop of heaven
but it's a full cup
of earth
steeped in satisfaction.
