To be a Writer

by Cathlyn Cartier

To be a writer is to bare your soul,
to reveal your innermost thoughts;
about love, loss, life, death and the world around you.
Exposing your fears and insecurities,
sharing your triumphs and your joys.

The faith to take pen in hand and allow the muse to work through you.
Then to place these sacred transcripts for others to read,
hoping that perhaps what has touched you will touch another,
that the healing that has begun for you will help another too.
Praying for acceptance and understanding.

The courage that it takes to reveal so much to others,
these are the traits that make you a writer
