Heart and Mind

by Jennifer L Banks

You'd think I'd know by now,
to hide my heart from thee,
to wrap it in velvet
under lock and key.

The heart does see
and tells the mind,
that the man it seeks
may only be blind

The mind looks on
With curious destain
and knows that to
the man,
it is only a game.

The heart is deaf
to what the minds say
It yearns to be free
to dance all day.

So with one that can see
and one that is deaf
Confusion sets in
until there is only one left.
