My Snow Angel

by Mary Ellen Smith

Upon the snowy veil that falls
Silent and asleep
Through dark and dewy
Mist filled dreams
The ones we like to keep.
I see still yet from years gone by
And winter's memory,
A shadow lying in the snow.
A child that was me.

In coat of wool and mittens warm
And hat snug to my chin,
I dream of angels in the snow,
Still it makes me grin.
Remembering the falling back
The wave of legs and arms,
My angelic visitation
Recalling childhood's charms.
