Reflections

by Adrian Calhoun

As I stood looking back on my life,
I saw many things, good and bad.
I thanked God for each and every blessing.

There were dark cloudy days,
when the heavy rains beat against me.
I always had to stop and smile after the rains passed,
because there was a rainbow to admire.

I saw bright cheery times,
vibrantly full of sunshine,
accented with butterflies and roses.
One of my greatest memories will be,
leaving footprints in the fresh fallen dew.

Soft gentle rain fell easily upon me,
purifying the air and cleansing my soul.
It brought forth life,
and renewed growth in my spirit.

Looking back one last time,
there was sorrow and pain in my life,
but there was a lot of happy and joyous times as well.
I have had much to be thankful for.
I hope there are enough happy memories
for those I leave today to remember.

So in death,
as I lay my sorrows down at Jesus feet,
so all of you should do,
in life.
