Those who have loved me
With un-fettered love,
I have not so loved

She whom I have completely loved,
Was not free to so love
Although she loved me likewise

I, despite misgivings, yearn
To connect freely, completely
With one who likewise yearns

One who is free to so love

Should such a connection be made,
Will I return to the place discovered
When I loved completely but without freedom?

Or will my soul, connecting with a different soul,
In different circumstances
Find a place unique?

Or is loving completely its own place,
Its own time and space
That all aspire to, knowingly or not?

If my soul and another's
Find each other in a place
Where loving souls may dwell...

Will I ever again ask such questions?
