and we, like runaway elevators
plummeting down
spiraling and twisting
changing
burning
and being pulled
pushed
kneaded
and thrown,
die slow deaths
at the hands of the King's horses
who, with their gelatin hooves,
could not pick up our pieces
to save us from salvation
