Time out (Animal frolics) by Anne Howe
No hissing or grunting
No raising of prickles
For now just a sign saying "UNAVAILABLE"
But hedgehogs do what they must do
Out come head and snout to scout about
For some other place in which to graze
On grubs and things by the light of the moon
You might pass him by under the daylight sky
When his nocturnal wanderings are done
No raising of prickles or sniffing around
For now he's resting his head in the sun
Just a sign saying "UNAVAILABLE"
