Home is the center.
It is the place to which you always return,
in your soul, with your body,
in long dreams and journeys.
Home is the answer to unspoken question
and the place in which answers
are grown under your bed.
Home is the cage and the sanctuary
inescapable and necessary
for the survival of beauty
because there must be a place to take it back to.
Home is the untouchable oasis
and the vulnerable fort
filled with milk and honey
and secrets, harboured safely.
Home is the axis
upon which the world spins
and the centrifuge
that filters out the frivolous
keeping the joy and beauty.
Home is the "mine"
in a world full of "theirs"
and nothing can take it away
because it is not a house,
and it is not a hilltop,
it is a feeling that you need not say,
"Honey, I'm home."
