Satan Laughed by Mary Ellen Smith
He laughed to think God's creations died.
"Just take a bite..." he hissing lied.
Deceived, they tasted and knowledge found
Too late, that fruit dropped to the ground.
In a moment the Earth became rocked and stoned.
Weeds ravaged the hills, God's creation moaned.
The flowers wilted and saddest of all
The lion searched for a lamb to maul.
Cast out of the garden the couple went
Clothed in skins with an animal's scent.
Hungry, alone, left to make their own way
Cold in the night, and hot in the day.
The soil was hard, the reality stark.
a tragic lesson this from light to dark.
While she in pain, in birth travailed,
till finally born, her baby wailed.
And we're still wailing to this day.
"Lord, take the pain, the sin away".
Satan laughs when we fall and cry
and takes great pleasure when we die.
Except when we in faith accept
That Jesus died to pay our debt.
Once sealed by Jesus in His name
We are reborn, never the same.
The Adam in us and yes the Eve
Their curse is lifted when we believe.
Still everyone will go to their grave
But some with the gift that Jesus gave.
He gives the gift of eternal life.
Free of tears, free of strife.
He paid the price on Calvary
Jesus Christ died for you and me.
So Satan laughs, but laughs in vain
He's lost the battle, there is no gain.
And Jesus soon and with a shout
Will call us up and grab us out! 11/19/2001 Posted on 11/19/2001 Copyright © 2024 Mary Ellen Smith
