Without A Hero by Adrian CalhounI once looked up toward many, called them all hero, even tried to be like some of them. Now in a new millenium, I have none of the people left that I once called hero.
John Wayne, Steve McQueen, Dale Earnhardt, James Dean, Robert Mitchum, Vince Lombardi, Norm Moshier, Lady Diana, all are dead now.
Terry Bradshaw, Hulk Hogan, Richard Petty, Brian Bosworth, and now Mark McGuire, have all retired.
Some still appear every now and again but no longer in the role of a hero. Clint Eastwood, James Garner, Hank Williams, Jr., Chuck Norris, Edward Woodward, Charlton Heston.
I could go on and on and on, but I think the point is maybe I put too much stock in other people to be a hero.
Maybe I should have looked closer to home or closer to my heart for a real hero to guide me. As it is, I sit here now looking back on all of this and now I am feeling somewhat lost without a hero. Wondering who, or if anyone will ever inspire me in that way again.
Well maybe I lied just a tad, I do have one hero left, Brett Favre. Until he retires or dies I still have one last hero to get me through.
