Chloe

by Stephanie Myers

Sexual lust and disposed of,
wantonness with disregard.
Inundated with unadulterated requests,
she falls hard to the floor.
Catapulting into something she can no longer be,
midnight dancer.

Every night before the roaring of the crowd,
the smells of beer and sweat from the old man dirty.
Sex is another number,
her dancing card is full.

Ragged wrinkles placed themselves,
over the years through misaligned goals.
Drooping breasts heave her bosom,
the veins ravage her arms and legs.

Fifty dollars is all it costs,
one night within her loving embrace.
Cheaper than the cheap she struggles by,
electricity went out that night.

Another drag from her cigarette backstage,
one touch to her lash to make it up.
She sighs a heavy sigh covered by a sob,
to dance this last request.

Lying in bed late at night,
her eyes still heavy with her mask.
She lay cold and still eyes to the ceiling,
razor blade on its back.
Crimson tides awash the cream sheets,
her life exposed.

And the note...

I couldn't handle anymore pain,
the eyes that stare at my old decrepid body.
They watch me as I wake,
they watch me in my dreams.
Now is the end of this,
I am finally going nowhere.
Forget me,
as they did.
