Sand And Sea

by Charles E Minshall

___________________________

A friend to me
Who was three plus three,
Said "come with me
To the shore by the sea.
If we're lucky
Maybe we'll see
Way far out,
Far out to sea
A ship or two
Or even three."
We watched from
Sandy shore the sea,
but not one ship
Did we see.
We saw a clam called Sam,
A close-mouthed clam,
And Sealy McFin
With his seal rock kin,
We saw a frolicking otter
With her comical daughter.
And Herman the hermit
In a crabby snit,
Looking for a shell
That he might fit.
Oh! we saw old Crabby Joe
With claw shaped toe,
And waves that crashed in
And then would go,
A whale that spouted
A whaley tune,
And a bird we called
A seasick loon.
What a fun day we had,
My friend and me,
Dreaming up the sights
For us to see,
From a sand box shore
And our wading pool sea.
