the Angels

by Angela Hanska

as I sit here
wiping the cloth
over the gifts you gave me

I think of the times we shared
of the summers
I spent with you

how I wish you
could see me now
of the person I've become

I also wish that
you could have
lived long enough to
finish giving me these
special gifts yourself

now I realize that
you have seen me
all the trials and problems
I've delt with

you've been watching
over me the entire
time and I didn't
even realize it

that you have
been here with me,
not only in spirit
but in my heart

these special gifts
will always hold a
special place

not for what they are
but for who gave them
to me, so for this I

Thank you, grandma

for the gifts and
for so much more
