Waverly

by Charles E Minshall

____________________________

I went to the beach
To meet an ocean wave,
I met with one
Then lost my brave.

It bowled me over
As I shouted for help,
Which was hard to do
With a mouth full of kelp.

I tried to escape
But much to late,
A bucket of sand
I think I ate.

A like amount
Was in each ear,
Through the wet sand
I could barely hear.

I crawled on shore
Eyes blinded by sand,
With a pit bull crab
Attacking my hand.

The next time I meet
An ocean wave,
I'll knock it flat
With a barrel stave.

All ocean beach buffs can relate to this! LOL!!! Very effective exaggeration. The last two lines very funny!!!
