Bathroom walls

by Julie Adams

bacteria
greets boy child
upon cracked tiles
no smiles, just
viles of apprehension
cuz, takin' the high road
has manifested dimensions
of unanswered questions

bewildered mother
smothered
with atrocities of
hands-tied bureaucracies
and growing infant
necessities

none hear the lies
over child cries, and
she cries to clear
the flooding demise
as waves rise beyond
her bloodshot eyes

child wails into
un-sanitized corners
echoes stain her
like the gov't bathroom walls,
she pounds her head against
reason, then falls
to cold tile
where she, and her child lies
bleeding for love
