Arthuritas

by Charles E Minshall

King Arthur on his many sojourns
Into the English countryside
As befit a great King
Traveled with a large entourage.
Flags waving, drummers drumming,
Musicians strumming,
Bowmen with long bows
And quivers of brightly fletched arrows
Slung across broad shoulders.
Followed by plumed Knights
In full dress suits of armor,
With bannered lances held on high.
Finely engraved swords
In ornate scabbords
Girded at their sides.
All astride prancing steeds
In decorative horse cloth,
From the Kings great stone stable.
A truly magnificent
Royal procession.
For over night rest stops
Of the entourage,
Several Knights traveled ahead,
Each on a quest.
One Knight for food and drink,
Another sleeping accomodations,
And one special Knight
Sir Gal Ahead
Would see to the special
Needs of the King.
