11 October 2001 (Journal Poem) by Leonard M HawkesA veiled impatience troubles me,
A yearning for the unknown,
An internal premonition, weary
For truth to be shown.
Is it the gray of October?
The cold, the threat of rain?
Or is it the war's veil of terror
That troubles my peace again?
Or is it some personal struggle
The Divine hand will finally conclude?
Perhaps the brink of a sorrow
That touches but still eludes?
Regardless, this morning's quiet
With routine and solitude
Trembles; and yet in my heart of hearts
Is God's peace and gratitude. 10/16/2001 Posted on 10/16/2001 Copyright © 2024 Leonard M Hawkes
