Rather have you

by Vikki Owens

So, now I've buried myself underneath all your belongings, all the little knicknacks and
brickabrak
of your accumulated life,
all the photomemorabelia of a life
that was before me,
that was
you, living without me,
moving towards me,
becoming the you that
I have now....
now, Im snuggled oh-so-happysafe
in your smell,
in your life,
in your memories and your
possessions
in your cream colored carpet
and your green
futon couch (that you slept on, that has
touched your whole body)
in your black dresser with its clothes
that are still waiting
there for you,
like I am, waiting to wrap around you,
and your boyscout
badges
and your plaques and certificates,
awards from a highschool life
I wasnt part of,
and I find myself
strangely discomforted
by the fact that Im
engulfed in
your life.

I would rather have you.
