The obligatory millennium verse

The millennium is drawing to a close
And nothing has changed with me
Plagued by dreams that don’t make sense
Still drowning in the depths of depression
I struggle on with my life
Haunted by an absurd sense of duty

My only enemy is liberty
So much time, here on my hands
And forever more things to do
I cut myself off from mundane tasks
Free my mind from conscious thought
Letting all but the bad slip away

I can see no end to it all
Suicide is not a solution
I’d have eternity to ponder that
So I remain in the darkness
Eyes so blind the only light I know
Is the fire at the end of the tunnel
