Actress by Richard VinceI worshipped your words...
Hanging on every syllable
Of your superbly crafted script
Your stage presence
Blew me away
The suggestion of a smile
Which never arrived
Your eyes made me see truth
Made me believe you were sincere
And not you at all
You said you were not fickle
Then you acted...like I never existed
I acted like you never existed
But for me, you never did
I never knew you
Just the person I wanted you to be
The person you said you were
You never knew me either
You had an image of me
But I could never be me to you
You made me act too
So now I play my part
Live my life you never understood
But I am playing my part as me
Whereas you never knew who to play
You could never be yourself
Because that was someone you never knew
I am glad I never knew you
Because all I would have known
Was emptiness. 06/09/2000 Posted on 10/13/2001 Copyright © 2025 Richard Vince

Posted by Sam Roberts on 03/15/03 at 11:20 PM I really like this one, in particular
Whereas you never knew who to play
You could never be yourself
Because that was someone you never knew
nobody can understand each other because we don't even understand ourselves, at least I don't. Brilliant work, can't wait to read more.
