Rats by Ulyss RubeyThese majorettes,
in religion's perpetual
battle with reason,
march to the song of ignorance
that has always echoed
through the halls of history.
The sad slow beat
of those who find
no meaning or purpose in life, therefore,
they follow the first manic,
or entrepreneur,
that promises a map
to immortality-
their final days
spent in the hospice
for the terminally insignificant.
Their once infamous names
now fade into history's
fog of forgotten fools. . .
koresh. . .
heaven's gate . . .
moon. . .
jonestown. . .
bin laden
etc. . .etc. . .
ad infinitum,
ad nauseum.
