Solitude

by Paul Little

Solitude

There is solitude here,
Like the emptiness of space
It is vast and unending.
It is your constant companion,
Warm and forgiving
And always they’re for you

There is no mercy on the battlefield
That passes for your life
And no shelter from the pain
Of heartache and regret
In the world of the ordinary man
So you fall back to solitude.

Your retreat here is always welcome
No difficult questions are asked
And no answers are required.
When you need it the most
Solitude will be there for you.
Like loneliness without the pain

sometimes a little solitude does a mind good. Great piece. Familiar thoughts throughout.
