You know? (to K.G.)

by Melanie A Bennett

You know
You've known for awhile now
Since November...you said
How is that possible?
How could you have known before I did?
Two months before I did...
You know me better than I know myself
That is the scariest part
How?
I don't understand
My heart is asking a thousand questions
But I am getting no answers
I know you do not love me
I wouldn't be at all surprised if you now hate me
You were there last night again...in my visions
I only kept asking you for answers
But I never recieved them
How can I go on without answers?
Things won't be the same anymore
That much I know
And that much I dread
You mean too much to me
Knowing our friendship has changed would be worse than anything else imaginable...even death.

It left me longing, just like the I in this poem, for answers. My biggest question was what did the you know before the I? I liked it, it seemed very wistful.
