November Rain by Richard VinceThe subterranean world of free newspapers
Gapes around me
And its not letting me go.
The heat rises;
Hope falls;
And were all stuck here.
Where the air has no voice
And hope is a predator with no teeth
That catches no one.
And there is one constant
That is beginning and end
Of every week we live,
Everything we know,
Everything around which we live.
After an eternal wait
The movement is never-beginning
Or so it seems
But the world looks different
After it is washed by the rain
Even if the Sun never shows his face here
And we are left in a glow
A shiny darkness
That covers all.
But darkness doesnt last forever
Even among the empty factories
And splintered windows
That we have come to acknowledge
And tolerate.
And when the rain comes,
The high rise blocks weep for the Sun
That once shone upon their backs,
Reflections leaping from the plate glass
To countless eyes below.
Nothing lasts forever,
Even cold November rain. 07/07/2001 Author's Note: Lines in italics borrowed from 'November Rain' by Guns 'n' Roses.
