Starlight, part III

by Richard Vince

The clouds have ganged up on me
They arrived while I wasn't looking
And covered the sky as one

So until they go away again
I'll sit here alone
Listening to my bad music
Writing my cryptic words
And thinking my lonely thoughts

But now, I don't feel alone
Because you are in my life
And I don't feel empty
Because I feel love for you

And now I think of Tuesday
And how beautiful it could have been
How warm I would have felt
If your arms had been around me
How many hours we could have talked
How many miles we could have walked
And how many weeks could have drifted away
While we were at peace

But the cold descended
I am frozen once more...
And you can melt my heart

If only the ocean wasn't in the way
Things might not be as wonderful as they are
As it is, I am glad to know you
And thankful for the glow you give me
Even though I can't put my arms around you

So it seems that we are destined
To remain an unfinished symphony
A masterpiece, incomplete
But nevertheless beautiful
A dream that never came true...

But I will see the starlight return
Before I go anywhere.
