Crow Funeral (haiku)

by David R Spellman

dead fallen comrade,
moment of silence rendered;
sudden departure

Author's Note: One of the strangest events of the natural world, this phenomenon has been witnessed on occasion. Upon the death of one of their species, many other crows may gather around their deceased brethren and mysteriously fall silent for a moment. Just as suddenly and unexpectedly, after a brief, quiet interlude, they will all leave the scene in a flutter of wings and cacophony of sound. This event has become dubbed a "Crow Funeral."

The first Haiku to make me truly appreciate the form! It's been too long since my last read- a happy rediscovery!
