Have you ever listened
carefully
To th midnight sounds
outside?
The distant train,
That flying airplane,
A lone car on the highway.
A man whistles for a dog.
Right by your window,
A lonely breeze grunts,
And you are sure a shadow
scuttles by.
That shadow's I.
And the noises you hear?
My mournful, plaintive cry.
