from a Physics class

by Devon E Mattys

Look here, Miss Mister
Sammy Frankie Dean & Peter
(Minus troubling totes)
I, too, can make allusions,
Though stuck-up not am I--
But still a student mastermind--
He who physics lonely hearts...
Yes, from Adrian's profession
I will take my cues--
And maybe I can have my love
(Parasocial though he be)--
Within electrons, pulsing fingers
(Chivalrous to me)...
Honorably discharged, nobly--
They dance the tango three by three,
But one will dance alone tonight,
As others have given their lives
For him to do--
I'll dance alone while animals
(two by two)
Cower from your caliber--
Scared to wonder what I know--
The soul has drifted away
(Leaden fumes--best kept away
From the rays
of sun)
--Let's rue the day!
Perhaps I'm not as clear
As Ben or Drew of Pretty-Boy,
But love to the electrons
Compares quite nicely
Now that I have tried my hand at mine.
