Into My Bedroom

by Devon E Mattys

Upon entering my bedroom
After the bed had been dismantled--
Take apart, mattress from springs,
Springs from frame--all mishandled--
I found a small space on the floor,
Between two wood beams of the bed,
Down towards the stereo and table lamp,
Much nearer the foot than the head.
And as I saw this humble space,
Somehow I briefly remembered your beauty.
So about I went to pad the place,
Equip it for writing of you (as is my duty)--
If you could be here, you would see
That I've created a cranny, a nook...
A little place to record my thoughts
As I think about your mind and how you look.
I've a clock, a lamp, a blanket,
A pillow, some music, with paper and pen...
But as I sit, I can't write a thing about you,
So I think instead, I'll meditate,
and just let those thoughts roll in.
