Jackson Hole

by Leonard M Hawkes

It's the Square I love:
Plain, antler-arched,
And lovingly set
With cottonwood, peabush,
And honeysuckle;
Pioneer-like,
Near native taste,
Only one step
Beyond the natural--

And so unlike the exotics
That spread and glut
And choke now
Below Cache Butte,
Along the banks
Of Flat Creek.
