Or did a brief spark of emotion
Flicker in your eyes?

Did that icy mind
That stares out so determinedly
Feel a fleeting glow
Of warmth that almost caused
The slightest hint of melting?

I've never seen you before;
But I've seen that face
Countless times.

This time...
What is it trying to hide?
What is so fragile
That you must harbour it
From the tempests of others?

You look blankly at everything,
Trying not to look at anyone.

What are you afraid of?

Your eyes dart in terror
Of looking somewhere for too long...
Afraid that someone
Might work deep enough
To see the beauty inside you.
Or maybe you're happy to believe
That no one wants to know you
After all.

Please don't be afraid...
I can see you.
And I wish I weren't the only one.
