Flogging

by Alan Mahood

Beating the ghost of
Our failure,
Don’t try to
Impress
Cause that ain’t a
Dead horse you’re
Whipping it’s the
Ghost of my caring.
Taunts and threats
Whimpers and tears
You seem to believe
Sincerely that
I should still care
But,
I already took
My fifty lashes and
Am not anxious
To meet my
executioner.

Great message in excellent verse... fantastic word-crafting.
