Empty Feelings

by Angela Hanska

A stillness comes
As the thought washes over me
As an ice cold, winter wave
Would crash upon the hot sand
Heated by the scorching sun

I look at others
And wish they were you and I
And yet I know they will not
For the one thing they have or
Think they have, I think
I shall never receive from you

My soul is cold and empty with this thought,
Shivers repeatedly coming and getting worse,
The world has turned black and white
And holds no beauty nor color for me

All this and yet I continue to want you,
Just you and no one else
And it hurts that I should feel this way,
For someone who will not show
The same feelings in return
