(st.i.ll dre.am.ing) ~transparent eyes~ (goodbye to the dream) by Richard Paeztransparent eyes
i havent been here in a long time
dirt and rust cover everything
but the memories-
boy-child, girl-child
transparent children playing on the floor
their hands and their eyes wander everywhere
exploring everything that lives in their world
i fall down to my knees
and take my place with them-
melting into the boy
as he melts with the girl
i look up with transparent eyes
and i see that the world that should have been
when we said goodbye to the dream
words run from your mouth
and down through my walls
like a flooding of unsheded tears
while the tears on my face
flow unto my hands
like a streaming of unspoken words
we stare at each other
like moths to a flame
never once thinking we would be burnt
and collide with each other
a storming of sparks
and a clashing of hot burning wings
feeling half forgotten
like childhood fading wonder
its deep down inside and
spreading like ink in water
the moment of waking
when sleep lingers like smoke
drifting away
but i remember the dream
and i still hear it beating
four years old and dying
but i still cannot make out the words
and i tear at the walls
as your words break them down
but we know i will never be free
its now that i see
through your words and my walls
that your wings have survived the ordeals
and i smile through my tears
as you shine through my walls
i did right when i let you be free
but it burns to remember the dream
