Vows of True Friends by Cathlyn CartierI promise you my love and friendship From this day until my final rest.
I vow my support. My shoulder when you need one. My arms open when you need a hug. My ears when you need someone to care and listen.
The path may sometimes be rough and unclear, But I will burn no bridges between us.
Obstacles have been placed between us, And no doubt some may try again. We have faced each obstacle and overcome it. Together we will do so again.
Sometimes we may feel world's apart, But together the strength of our friendship can close the gaps.
What fate has brought us together, I may never understand, But in my heart I know This friendship was sculpted by a divine master's hand.
How can I possibly promise this to a face I've never seen, A voice I've never heard, A person I have never touched except via words on a screen?
When the trials of life overwhelm me, I feel your protective sheltering arms.
As the tears stream down my face, I feel your embrace and your warm breath upon my hair.
I draw strength from you in my moments of weakness, And know with certainty you are more than my knight/protector ~ You are my true friend.
When my wings have been injured and I am falling into despair You are the one that lifts me up and nurtures my spirit until it soars again.
It seems so implausible, so impossible, but it's true. Of all the people that come into my life, I can place my trust in the anonymity of you.
Thiam en gradh leaf.
