One Stone

by Leandra K Brossard

The morning dawns
as dull and drear
as any you might see.
The sun remains
aloft in fear
behind a foggy screen.
The mist which falls
is damp and crisp
despite it's frailty.
The rivers run
more wildly as
they rush into the sea.
And yet, one stone
remains in place
fearless, for eternity.
It rests there, calm and placid
as chaos swarms around it, free.
It is one stone, and still is more
than stalwart, firm, rigidity.
It is a place for peace of mind,
a place where mind and thought are free.
