A Rock for Joshua by Leandra K BrossardThis poem is about a rock,
a quiet unassuming thing,
it rested, silent, on the ground,
not doing anything.
To many people is was dull,
just a grey thing on the ground,
they passed it by without a thought
and never did look down.
The days and seasons passed it by
bringing wind and sleet and rain,
Never did they bring a friend,
until a new day came.
Joshua wandered, lost in thought
bemused by the things which he might know
When suddenly he realized,
that he had stubbed his toe.
Upon a rock, which lying there
silent, still did do away
with all of the questions Joshua
had asked himself that day.
In seeing it he realized enlightenment
he never thought he'd know
In joy he snatched it quickly up
to all his friends to show.
The wonder which he saw within
the rock that he had found,
While, to him, was miracle,
did not, his friends, astound.
In consternation, then, he left,
to ponder his new rock,
It never left his side from then
even to ponder as he walked.
