happiness again offered givenly by Gary Hoffmannhappiness again offered givenly
on coldly wintered dark desert midnights
(the swell of Neptune's icy eternity
distance lit by some seraph's eyes)
but, as faeries often are (when
drunk), so this joy is elusive
stopping too brief (and beautiful) upon
my lips -- which often whisper cries
to this saharan moon
of ilimitable death where I(carus) live(s)
and kisses with teeth (and tongue delights)
yet fails (so close) to bring
the Tigress to my Babylon
and still the noble (whore) wind lies
to me and promises rain (hush, soon)
to drown the times of sand -- again
I whisper when once I'd sing --
upon this (sad happy) Plutonic shore
(calling me cute while promising more
in dreams of Heaven, but ice
will not melt for sin's fire) -- and gone
is the innocence when fighting fights
was fun and God would still forgive
the parallax vision of the dying
obscures truth (opium imitation)
and love and kills storm-wracked Poseidon
before he (bluely) reaches the (he's nice)
only postman of the Rub-al-Khali
(I) who wants to swim in Serendipity's sea
and kiss that shore (or her slender thighs)
but his muse won't dance for wanton he
and so (in time) of thirst he dies
(alone)
