a clown, broken on the floor
still wearing drab colors
legs sprawled out
twisted, ugly, too skinny
dry and brittle
from having bled my blood

I wonder briefly
if it was I who killed
and apologize
to the ugly clown
lying there eternal
on a field of blue death
