another face by Gary Hoffmannanother face
lost in the sea of
concrete conformity
one more person
that I don't know
eating as one must
in loneliness
leaving now
to enter frozen
existence
dressed sparringly
for the temperature
(or comradeship)
in prismatic attire
harlequin's uniform
but beautiful
in myopic slenderness:
a stranger of fascinating brevity
to my sight
walking wraith-like, silent
into my peripheral being
there staying for infinite
inconsequentiality
and then walking out again,
to exist as uncertainty exists
you, who I saw
at the Ritz.
