Wind by Amanda J CobbHere I sit, on a Saturday afternoon, window open, listening to the traffic go by, but hearing only the wind blowing through the trees. Thinking of the choices I'll have to make today, tomorrow, this year. Small choices and life choices, there's always decisions to be made. I feel the wind through the window, see it blowing through the leaves and grass, smell the scent of spring on its back - refreshing, spontaneous, soothing. And I think how nice it'd be to live as free as the wind - no choices to make except where to go, then to make your way there on any path you like, quickly or slowly, no planning needed, no obligations, no restrictions. And suddenly I want nothing more than to just sit all day, listening to the wind, to see it and feel it, smell it and hear it in its freedom. But then the phone rings - reality is calling, with more things to do and choices to make. And then I remember that I don't have the luxury of following every whim and I won't ever know the freedom of living like the wind. 04/22/2001 Posted on 09/20/2002 Copyright © 2026 Amanda J Cobb
