The Love of Legends

by Amanda J Cobb

I've never known real love,
the true kind,
the forever kind.
That I-want-to-spend-my-life-with-you
feeling.
And one of my deepest fears
is that I'll go my whole life
never finding it.
I want to be able
to be with someone
and know that they love me
just by the way they touch me,
and have them know
that I feel the same
just by how I look at them.
I want to have someone
who can understand me,
and would die for me,
because I would do
the same for them.
I want to be able
to go to sleep
and not have to wake up alone.
I want a brave love,
a crazy love,
one that makes me melt
with a single glance.
I want the comforting embrace,
the shoulder to cry on,
the "til-death-do-us-part",
the complete loyalty.
I want that feeling of security,
knowing you are
their one-and-only love.
I want to be needed
and missed when I'm gone.
I want life without this love
to seem unbearable.
I want the love
that fairytales are made of
the love of legends,
the love that lasts an eternity.
And I want to experience
and cherish it
before it's too late.
